- You can visit Deir el Ahmar almost anytime of the year.
- The region may be inaccessible a few days or weeks every year because of
snow, usually during January and February
- The best periods are
- Spring and the beginning of summer, when the temperature is mild, the
rivers are at their highest levels, the wild flowers are flourishing and the
mountains are covered with snow
- Autumn, for the mild climate and to discover and participate in some farming activities

- Comfortable multi-layered hiking clothes [comfortable pants, hiking shoes,
t-shirt]

- Water: at least 1.5 liters per person, bought from the village
- Food: energetic food bought from the village [dry fruits, chocolate, etc.]
- Mobile phone [switched off while hiking!] with the emergency numbers
