Agro- tourism project

  • This project was developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and the UNDP's National Programme to Combat Desertification
  • Project short-term objectives
    • Develop sustainable agri-tourism and eco-tourism infra-structure aiming to protect the environment and increase the economical income of some farmers & local persons
  • Outcome & time frame
    • Before August 2004: Design 5 to 10 tours
    • Before September 2004: Create this website
    • Before September 2004: Create brochures
    • Before October 2004: Train guides
    • Before October 2004: Train farmers, priority to organic farmers
    • Before October 2004: Train local NGO [WADA] to manage the project
    • Before December 2004: Bring the first trips of tourists
  • Actors
    • Ministry of Agriculture: funder
    • UNDP: funder, supervisor
    • ESPRIT~NOMADE: project manager, sites assessment, design ecotourism trails, create website, create brochures, train farmers, train mountain guides, train future project managers
    • WADA: Local coordinator, future manager of the project after its completion
  • Project medium-term objectives [if this pilot phase succeeds]
    • Increase the eco-tourism services: accommodations, more trips, etc.
    • Include more farmers & guides in the project
    • Implement the project in other villages
